The Artists

Sarah Worthington

Sarah is a trained lyric soprano whose theatrical experience has encompassed the diversity of the Bozo show and the Chicago Lyric Opera. Her experiences in musical theater complement her classical recitals and overseas concerts to create a unique performer in the world of music -- an accessible opera singer.

Nathan Carver

Nathan is an actor and circus clown with international experience. A graduate of Ringling Brothers Clown College and a former clown with the Greatest Show on Earth, he was also the first American to perform with the Kinoshita Circus in Japan. In addition to performing, Nathan teaches physical comedy and circus skills – and plays the saw.

The Act

Simply put, Nathan accompanies Sarah in recital.  But his innocent and over-ambitious efforts thwart her graceful  attempts to continue. This intimate beginning turns quickly into a boisterous and hilarious "night at the opera."

Yes, between the buffoonery and quiet  sentimentality, the audience is treated to a virtuoso performance from a  loving soprano and her adoring partner....who plays the musical saw.

And when a bigger sound is required, there's a six foot  lumberjack saw.

And when more accompaniment  is needed, a volunteer from the audience get a crash course in saw playing.

And when acoustic saw is not enough, the duo goes electric (ala Jimi Hendrix) -- even play a powered circular saw which sends sawdust flying into the soprano-song filled air.

And a Singer & Saw Bolero? That's right. With some help from modern day electronics, this is one Ravel arrangement that you'll never forget. It takes a lot of saws -- and some quick moves -- to build to this climatic end!
